Holiday Gift Guide | Review – Uncommon Goods

I came across a store online called Uncommon Goods and absolutely loved what I saw! I contacted Uncommon Goods to see if they would let me do a product review to post on my blog, and they let me pick out a product to review…read on to find out more!
Uncommon Goods offers cool and unusual gifts for any recipient. They have creative gift ideas and stocking stuffers for men, women, and kids of all ages. Uncommon Goods believe that creativity and the expression of individuality represent two great human treasures. They have set out to create a business that makes uncommon goods accessible to everyone. Categories they offer include: The Best Gifts For Men, Gift Ideas For Women, Cool Gifts For Teen Girls, Stocking Stuffers 2011, and much more!
It was so difficult to narrow it down to one product to review; Uncommon Goods offers so many products that I would be thrilled to try out. My personal favorite is their Gifts For Geeks section. In the end, I decided to check out their Bonsai Forest.
Now, let me make this clear: I’ve never thought that I have a “green-thumb”. I have very little experience with plants, and I really don’t know much about gardening. However, this Bonsai Forest looked so enticing–how cool would it be to have your own miniature forest indoors, right?
When my package arrived, I was impressed by both the top-notch quality of packaging and goods. The packaging itself was very nice, and it made me think that most anyone would be pleased at the sight of this gift. The growing tray is very heavy duty, and it doesn’t seem like quality has been skimped on with anything in the box.
The Bonsai Forest kit I received included tree and moss seed, recycled steel seedling training pots, seed starting wafers, growing medium, bonsai scissors, rake with spade, river stone, and directions. Again, I was impressed by the quality of the scissors and rake. Not knowing what I was really doing, I set to get my bonsai forest growing by following the directions provided to a T.
The first phase was keeping my seedlings in a dark, warm place and keeping them watered and covered in plastic. My plants actually began sprouting before the instructions indicated they would, and I was so excited! Once the plants had sprouted, the instructions said to place them in a place where they would get morning sunlight and keep them watered, being careful not to let them dry out.
I placed my mini-trees in my kitchen windowsill and watched them take off. For some reason one of the containers has yet to grow anything, but the other two yielding bright green sprouts. It was also kinda strange that it seemed that each container held a different plant. One container’s sprouts looked like the seed was still at the tip of the plant, the other container’s plants appeared leafy. At one point, I had left the plants out by the windowsill while it snowed outside, and one plant seemed to die. However, I kept watering it and the plant eventually grew back.
Unfortunately, Christmas came and I neglected my little trees by forgetting entirely to water them. They dried out, and they may have died. I am going to continue caring for them, and I’m hoping I am able to being them back to life like I did before. I will post an update post on a future date to let everyone know what ended up happening.
All in all, I am very pleased with my experience with Uncommon Goods. Even though I may have killed my bonsai trees, it was fun while it lasted. I think someone with a little more know-how might have done a better job than I have. I completely recommend Uncommon Goods to absolutely anyone looking for a cool, unique gift for themself or someone else.

I am giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to Socks 4 Life:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: a gal can never have enough cute socks. I am such a sock fan: the more fun, the better! My absolute favorite kinds of socks are knee socks and toe socks. Recently, I was given the opportunity to check out a company called Socks 4 Life, and I was thrilled! Socks 4 Life have even offered to give away a $25 Gift Certificate to one of my lucky readers…read on to find out more!
(not pictured above: hot pink, black, & white toe socks)
Socks 4 Life offers a huge selection of socks for home or work or really, anything! They have thigh high socks, thermal socks, diabetic socks, you name it! They offer free and fast shipping over $50, as well as a money back guarantee. Socks 4 Life even provides it’s shoppers with helpful articles like “Choosing The Right Dress Sock Color” and “All About Socks“. Their socks are normally very affordable, but they hold sales all the time, making everything even more affordable. Socks 4 Life also has same-day shipping, which is always nice. They are definitely a store to check out!
I received my own $25 Gift Certificate to try out some socks from Socks 4 Life, and I stocked up on some awesome new knee socks and toe socks. At the top of my post I have included the stock images of the socks I received, but here are the links you can find them at also: Red & Black Toe Socks, Pink & Black Toe Socks (not for sale anymore, bummer, they have other colors here), Pink & Black Knee Socks, Red & Black Knee Socks, Red, Grey, & Black Knee Socks, Lime, Pink & Red Knee Socks. As you can see, I really love the color combination of red and black. One thing I was concerned about before receiving my socks was if the toe socks would be wearable around my toes. I’ve had toe socks in the past that felt like they were squeezing the life out of my toes and the seams would bust. However, I am pleased to say that the toe socks fit great! All the socks do! Seriously, it’s taken me a while to get this post up because these socks have gotten a ton of wear in my review period. They are always either being worn or being washed so that they are ready to be worn again. These socks are incredibly comfortable, and hold together very well. I absolutely love my new socks from Socks 4 Life!
I can’t say enough nice things about Socks 4 Life. I love each and every one of my new pairs of socks. I highly recommend Socks 4 Life to absolutely anyone looking for a wide variety of high quality, affordable socks.

Holiday Gift Guide | Review & Giveaway – Northwest Natural Products #Rafflecopter
![]()
Both my health and my children’s health are very important to me. I make sure that my oldest son and I take a multivitamin every day to keep our bodies running in tip-top shape. A company called Northwest Natural Products offered to let me try both their gummy multivitamins for adults and children. They also agreed to let one of my very lucky readers to win their own bottles of Vitafusion Multi Vites and L’il Critters Gummy Vites for Children…read on to find out more!
About Northwest Natural Products (from their website)
In 1985, Northwest Natural Products redefined the dietary supplement industry with the introduction of tasty and natural gummy-based vitamins. Today, Northwest Natural Products is a leader in the field of taste and nutritional technology it pioneered. With over 142 items that cover the full spectrum of dietary supplements for children and adults, we offer innovative delivery systems to facilitate absorption and make vitamins palatable to a wide audience.— We Make Nutrition Taste Good
I am constantly having to think up creative ways to get my oldest son, Judah, to get eat his vegetables. Sometimes it doesn’t work, and he goes without. I had tried giving him vitamins in the past, only to have him catch on that it was something good for him that I wanted him to eat, and he started to refuse to eat them. I had heard of gummy vitamins before, but had never tried them. I knew that Judah liked gummy bears, and I was hoping that these vitamins would be tasty enough to where he wouldn’t want to refuse them. Well, the Gummy Vites are a winner in this household! Every single day, Judah is THRILLED to get his vitamins. He will often drop what he’s doing when he knows it’s “vitamin time”. I haven’t had any trouble at all getting my son to take his L’il Critters Gummy Vites.
As for me, I think the the Vitafusion MultiVites are delicious. If my son’s vitamins taste anywhere as good as mine do, no wonder he loves them! The flavor is very juicy and yummy. If I didn’t know they were vitamins, I’d probably eat a whole bottle in one sitting. They are even good compared to actual gummy candy without anything good added.
I love that taking our vitamins has become a daily treat that we both look forward to. It’s pretty cool to be able to enjoy something that is healthy for you, and we certainly enjoy our new gummy vitamins. I highly recommend Northwest Natural Products to everyone–adult and child alike!
