Review & Giveaway – iHerb / Madre Labs

Have you ever seen the TV show Hoarders? Well, I am not a hoarder, except when it comes to bath and body products. I find getting ready for the day to be a little monotonous. The keep things interesting, I love to have a lot of variety in products so I don’t get bored of the same old routine. I came across a company called Madre Labs, a subsidiary of iHerb.com. I saw a multitude of products with tempting descriptions of ingredients and scents that I knew I’d love to try out. I contacted Madre Labs / iHerb.com to inquire whether they would like to partner with my website for a product review and giveaway, and they agreed! Read on to find out more!!

Made in the U.S.A., Madre Labs‘ products are clearly marked with the “No No-No’s” seal, which means no sulfates, parabens, dyes, animal ingredients and animal testing. Their ingredients are considered gentle, biodegradable, and “green”. Madre Labs has also received good safety ratings and the products are contained in eco-friendly packaging.

I had the opportunity to try out the entire line of Madre Labs‘ Hair & Body Care products. Below, you will find all the products I got to try, as well as information and my thoughts regarding each one:

Balancing Shampoo – This product is intended for Normal Hair and contains Açaí, Goji, Pomegranate, and Seabuckthorn. This shampoo helps protect hair and scalp from oxidative and environmental damage. Aloe vera and amino acids have been added to further nourish normal hair, resulting in softer, shinier, more manageable hair. While I don’t consider my hair to be “normal” (it is definitely more damaged than normal), I did give this shampoo a try and it’s scent alone made me long to use it on a regular basis. The scent is called “Pomegranate and Mellow Mint. It leaves my hair more dry than I would like, but like I said: my hair is damaged and it is intended for more “normal” hair. However, my fiance has virgin hair in wonderful condition and he has been using this shampoo on a regular basis. He, too, loves the scent and says he cannot be any happier with it’s results. It definitely does leave his hair softer, shinier, and more manageable.

Balancing Conditioner – Very much like the balancing shampoo this product is coupled with, the Madre Labs Balancing Conditioner contains Açaí, Goji, Pomegranate, and Seabuckthorn. The same products have been added to the conditioner that have been added to the shampoo for the same purpose. This conditioner is meant to help revitalize and maintain normal hair. I tried this product along with the shampoo and I felt the same way I did about the shampoo: it smelled great, but left my damaged hair a little more dry than I like it to be. Of course, I must emphasize again that this product is not intended for my damaged hair type; it is intended for normal hair. This product is the same scent as the Balancing Shampoo: Pomegranate and Mellow Mint. My fiance with virgin hair has been using this product along with the shampoo on a daily basis and it truly has left his hair looking and smelling wonderful.

Moisturizing Shampoo – This shampoo is intended for Dry / Damaged hair, which is my hair type. I bleach out my hair and sometimes use heat for styling. This shampoo’s scent is called Strawberry Oasis and it contains Açaí, Goji, Pomegranate, and Seabuckthorn. To result in softer, shiny, more manageable hair, Aloe Vera, Amino Acids, Panthenol have been added and further nourishing and moisturizing dry, damage hair. Ever since these products have arrived, I have not gone back to any other shampoo or conditioner. I have been using the Moisturizing Shampoo on a daily basis with great results. I absolutely love it’s delicious scent, and my hair looks beautiful and has been easier to maintain.

Moisturizing Conditioner – Again, very much like it’s sister shampoo product, the Madre Labs Moisturizing Conditioner is formulated with the same proprietary blend of antioxidant-rich superfruits. The scent is also called Strawberry Oasis. Additional ingredients include Aloe Vera, Amino Acids, Panthenol and a special blend of select oils to further moisturize and nourish dry / damaged hair. I love this product just as much as I love the Moisturizing shampoo. It smells great and works wonderfully, leaving my hair so soft, shiny, and manageable.

Leave-in Conditioner – With a scent called Tangerine Melody, the Madre Labs Leave-in Conditioner maximizes your hair’s luster, body and manageability. It also contains Açaí, Goji, Pomegranate and Seabuckthorn. Additionally, aloe vera, panthenol, amino acids, and a special blend of select oils have been added to help nourish and detangle dry, overprocessed hair for easier styling. It’s light, citrus-y scent is meant to add a little cheer to your day. This is another product I have used every day since I first tried it. My hair can’t decide whether it is straight, wavy, or curly, and this product helps it met a compromise resulting in my hair looking better than it ever has before. The other day, about an hour after I had sprayed some of this product in my hair, my fiance commented, “Mmm…your hair smells so good!” and I couldn’t agree more. The leave-in conditioner is more of a liquid than other leave-in conditioners I have tried and isn’t sticky at all. After using this product, the only difference I notice is that my hair smells even more fantastic and looks even better than before.

Moisturizing Body Wash – Madre Labs‘ gentle, soap-free, invigorating Moisturizing Body Wash produces luxurious lather without using harsh surfactants. Argan nut oil is added, which will help your skin feel silky smooth. Additionally, the Rosemary Mint scent will awaken your senses. It contains the same proprietary blend of superfruits (açaí, goji, pomegranate, and seabuckthorn) as the other products mentioned. This has become of my all-time favorite products ever. I have mentioned my love for products containing a minty fragrance in the past, and this Body Wash is the very best minty fragrance I have ever smelled. It fills my entire bathroom while showering, and I am in love with it. This is definitely a product I’d like to keep around in my household.

Unscented Hand & Body Lotion – this lotion helps to rehydrate dry, damaged skin. Argan nut oil (high in vitamin E) combined with a premium blend of select oils (rich in essential fatty acids) help to nourish and moisturize your skin, making it feel silky smooth. Açaí, goji, pomegranate & seabuckthorn has also been added to help protect your skin from oxidative and environmental damage. This lotion is truly unscented, I don’t even smell that default “unscented” lotion scent. It works very well, and sinks into my dry skin. This lotion leaves my skin feeling moisturized without feeling greasy.

Unscented Hand Cream – Again, this Hand Cream is truly unscented and is very similar to the Unscented Body Lotion as far as ingredients are concerned. The main difference I see is that the Hand Cream’s main ingredient is water, whereas the Body Lotion’s main ingredient is Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, with water coming in second. My hands sometimes get so dry that they crack and bleed from having them in hot water and soap while washing dishes and my hands. It is difficult to mind a hand lotion that does not burn the skin on my hands, but this hand lotion’s application is completely painless for me, and I love that. It works just like the Body Lotion, in that it sinks into my dry skin and leaves it feeling moisturized without feeling greasy.

I don’t have a single negative word to say about my experience with Madre Labs Hair and Body Care line. I am really loving each and every product they have sent me so much that they have replaced my former products. I highly recommend Madre Labs Hair and Body Care line to everyone.
