Review & Giveaway – FURminator
Contest Closed.
The winner is: R Hicks!
Congratulations!
As I have mentioned before, I am the owner of three crazy but lovable dogs. I also have a one year old son and another child on the way. Sometimes I think I am absolutely crazy for having my dogs. The main reason why is because of all the fur the dogs shed and the pain it is to keep my floors fur-free.
The FURminator offers a solution to this dilemma. Instead of waiting for fur to accumulate on my floors and carpets, the FURminator removes a significant portion directly from the source–my dogs. The FURminator is a comb that is used on felines and canines alike to remove excess fur that would otherwise end up all over your house. The comb has the ability to get the “undergrowth” fur that a lot of combs don’t have the ability to grab and it usually remains caught underneath the outer layer. Since using the comb on my beloved dogs, the amount of fur that acclimates wound my house has very significantly decreased. I am no longer having to unclog my vacuum from all of the fur.
FURminator Inc.
FURminator Inc. was founded by husband and wife team, Angie and David Porter. Professional Groomer Angie tried for years to find the best tool to combat shedding. After over a decade of using every available tool on the market, both she and her husband worked together to develop a tool that was efficient and wouldn’t cut the pet’s coat. The FURminator was created, along with a complete line of deShedding products such as shampoos and supplements to promote a healthy coat and skin and help to reduce shedding. The FURminator now has multiple patents and additional patents pending. Also new, you can now buy the FURminator and the deShedding products directly from the FURminator website!
About The FURminator
The FURminator deShedding tools address the number one complaint of pet owners–SHEDDING! It utilizes patented technologies to reach deep beneath the topcoat to remove the undercoat and loose hair, reducing shedding up to 90%. The tool is safe to be used everyday, but with most breeds, using the tool once or twice a week for 10-20 minutes each session is all that is necessary. The tool itself is lab tested and made of premium quality materials. It features a patented fine toothed, stainless steel edge that doesn’t cut or damage the coat of your pet. It is easy to use on both long and short hair pets and has been tested on a variety of breeds–from Bernards to Jack Russells, from cats to rabbit, to even horses! The FURminator helps bring out your pet’s natural oils, promoting healthier skin and a shiny coat. The tool can be used to prevent hairballs in cats. It has also been proven to reduce the amount of airborne elements in a household which cause allergic reactions. Grooming sessions are made easier with a convenient push button to remove fur from the deShedding edge. The FURminator deShedding tool is NOT used to remove mats or tangles. It is recommended to brush your pet’s fur beforehand or take your pet to a certified pet groomer for professional treatment. It is also important to physically inspect your pet to identify any cuts, sores, bruises, etc. so that the areas may be avoided. With proper use and care, the deShedding edge does not require sharpening or replacement for the lifetime of your pet.
My Experience
The people at FURminator let me choose what size tool I needed for my household from the deLuxe Collection, and I chose the medium 2.65″ deShedding tool as it was the most universal option and is used in houses with pets both large and small. I have two fifty-pound dogs and a twenty-pound dog. The tool I reviewed is recommended for medium to large size dogs. It features the same deShedding edge as the Classic FURminator, only with a new innovative grip handle and an enhanced design for easier use.
Of all three of my dogs, Paisley sheds the most and so I decided to use her for my example for my review. I was horrified to notice clumps of hair falling off of her this summer. She is a mutt, and her ancestors must have been breeds with lots of fur to shed. After bathing Paisley and letting her dry completely, I began with inspecting her for any abrasions or skin conditions, and I combed her coat with a regular doggie brush to make sure she did not have any snags or mats. I was worried she wouldn’t like the FURminator tool and I’d have to fight her in order to brush her, but she actually enjoyed the experience! The whole time I was brushing her she laid down and relaxed. I could not believe the amount of fur that came off of her. Frankly, I was a little disgusted–it filled an entire grocery bag! However, better there than on my floor and furniture, right? The tool was incredibly super easy to use; the button that releases the hair from the comb is priceless.
I have used the FURminator on all three of my dogs multiple times now and have seen amazing results. I can already see a difference in the health of my dog’s coats. Also, not having to clean up fur anywhere near as much is AWESOME! I would absolutely recommend the FURminator to anyone with a shedding pet problem.

My youngest son is allergic to cats. We have a cat. Using the Furminator would help reduce the cat hair and dander in the home which would benefit my son.
I learned this product reduces shedding 90% which is fantastic.
I would benefit because I have a cat and dog how shed constantly! I’m tired of hair everywhere!
I was a dog groomer for over 10 years and think this product is awesome! I have 3 dogs myself, 2 have double coats, so this would really help me tone down on the shedding. Great product.

I have a lot of friends who use this and rave about how well it works! I would love to get my hands on one. Having 2 Pugs and 5 cats I am constantly fighting fur!!
I could definitely use one of these as I have three cats and a we just rescued (found her in a storm and how I could I not?) a kitten, so there is cat hair everywhere and they do not like the constant brushing.

I could really benifit from the FURminator because I have a Golden Retriever who is almost two, and a long haired cat. They SHED all the time and it adds up! My vaccum actually broke a few weeks ago and using a FURminator would sure cut down the amount that I have to borrow a vaccum from a relative.

3 cats and one fairly long-haired dog. Pretty sure it would be a benefit here!
One dog with long hair and one cat with long hair and a bird with
alot of feathers. I really need this Furminator. Thanks so much
we’d benefit b/c i’m allergic to our dog & would love to get rid of some hair!
autumn398@ yahoo.com
I would benefit because my Siberian Husky sheds horribly!!!
I own 2 feline shedding machines. Would love to see if this works.
Our dog shed so much during the summer – and it seems like I’m always vacuuming – this would really help!
Our dog doesn’t shed, but our cat sheds like crazy! Especially in the summer! We usually shave her, but that is too stressful for all of us! This would be a perfect solution.
I need this bc we have a FAT longhaired cat who sheds!!!!
twitter follow them -kgail11
Very eager to try. Love my dog, but don’t like the hair.
We have two black cats – and whenever they’re on us, they leave their fur.
We would benefit from having the FURminator with our latest rescue dog. He is a Belgian Malinois mix. Now, looking at him, you think “short coat, no problem”. But Daddy dog must have been something else – something that has an undercoat, because he sheds a lot. And it must itch him, because he uses my new living room furniture to rub against; which does not make me happy. Red couch with whitish coating at the corners, just at dog height.
I have two indoor cats that shed year round and this might help out with all the loose fur around!

I could use this because my dog sheds like crazy!
I need one so I won’t have to vacuum quite so often.
my mother would benefit from owning a FURminator. she has two large dogs and a long haired cat and there is ALWAYS fur everywhere! this would be a great birthday present!!
I have 5 cats, one of which is very old & drops clumps of fur all over the place.
Thanks for the giveaway >^..^<

i think this would help eliminate or at least limit the hairballs my cat coughs up
I would benefit from this because my dog has really long fur and it gets all over the carpets and our black clothing. This tool would be able to eliminated or at least greatly minimize the amount of fur around the house
I have a long haired cat and she always gets matted fur balls on her back..this looks like it would take them right out!!
I have a German Shepherd Mix who is the queen of shedding!

I need this for both my cats! We have to brush them both daily and vacuum every day too! They shed in the summer so much!

my dog has large chunks of hair coming out of her and they’re left all over the house. I’d love this furminator to help take off all this hair before it floats all over the house. Thanks
This would be really useful — my dog has been shedding like crazy and there is fur all over the house!
We could really use the large FURminator. We have three dogs and they could all use a really good brushing. Thanks for the giveaway.
I would love one of these to use with my Blue Heeler
I have two inside dogs, both of which are heavy shedders with a heavy undercoat. The FURminator would be used a lot in my house!
I have 2 dogs that could really use this, they both like to be brushed so it shouldnt be a problem
Our terrier mix sheds so much, I call our house “The Land of Dust & Dog Hair”.

I love that it helps remove the undercoat quickly & easily without damaging the outercoat. We have 2 dogs (both are shepherd mixes & shed like the dickens) – they would really benefit from this!
Alaskan Malamutes have double coats and this would be perfect. This tool would remove the undercoat but it wouldn’t destroy the guardhairs. I would love to win one of these.
My two cats shed massive amounts of fur. It seems I have to vacuum almost every other day, and even then when a good breeze blows through the apartment more tumbleweeds of cat fur come rolling out from under and behind the furniture. Sounds like a job for the FURminator! Thank you for the chance to win.
I’d benifit because I have 2 dogs, and 2 cats!
It’s so nice of you to do this!
But since I have to enter my own word in, I have a Lab and a Golden Retriever mix, both of whom shed like the dickens in this heat. There are tumbleweeds floating around my kitchen as we speak, and the Golden thinks they’re rodents or something and likes to eat them (!?!) My elderly father obviously doesn’t breathe too well these days, either (can you here the tiny violins?) and could use the tumbleweed/dander reduction that having a Furminator would provide. Thank you!
My household would benefit because we have 4 cats that shed like crazy. We just moved to Colorado and it is so much drier here than Cincinnati, Ohio so my cats are shedding more than usual.

I need the Furminator because when my Pug shakes it looks like a hurricane of hair. There is no relief from his shedding.
I really need a Furminator. People tell me they love my dog’s coat, and I tell them “Then you’d love my carpet.” But I don’t love my carpet. Let me win!
with two labs, i could really use this!
would make life easier.
I have a cat that sheds all over the place!
I would benefit because my dog sheds constantly.
I would definitely benefit because my 100-pound labrador has a tendency to leave this black furballs everywhere in the house. It would hopefully help me keep those in check!
I have a Husky and she sheds sooo much! I’ve been told by several people that the Furminator is the best! Would love to win it!
I have a shaggy 36″,216 lb Irish Wolfhound and I have Arthritis, enough said.
I saw this on television my Brother/Rough Collie said oh Yes no more rough combing and or brushing to pull my coat. Thanks SW
My daughter is asthmatic and We need somthing like this to control the pet hair on her cat
I could use this because with 1 dog and 3 cats most of my cleaning is due to pet hair
It’s not just for cats and dogs they can also be used on rabbits, ferrets, and horses.
I’ll give you six reasons: Patches, Cole, Shorty, Boo, Tiggy and Boots.

With four animals in my house (two cats, two dogs) I could definitely benefit from the Furminator. I get huge clumps of hair from one of my cats just from brushing. This would be awesome. My longhair cat suffers from hairballs and I bet this would help alleviate some of that.
I have a small Furminator (not the deluxe version) that I purchased at my vet’s about a year ago. I wanted something to work on both our 3 cats and our Keeshond dog (who has long fur like a collie). This device works well on the kitties but isn’t really built for the tough undercoat of our dog. It sounds like the de-shedding tool you used in your review worked better on dogs. I do love the Furminator we have as it is made of quality materials and the animals don’t mind being combed with it.
We would benefit from using a FURminator deShedding tool because we have three Cocker Spaniel puppies… and that equals alot of FURminating – for now and years to come!
We recently moved in with my mother in law who owns 3 dogs, one of those being a collie. I have never in my life seen so much dog hair, it is disgusting. I have to vacume every day and cannot keep up with the amount of hair it’s shedding.
I would definatly benefit from the furminator. I’ve been meaning to buy one. I wash my dog once to twice a week and brush him everyday and yet I still wind up with him shedding and leaving fur everywhere.
I have a beagle and rat terrier they shed badly.
My whole family would benefit as we are a rescue family. We have lots of cats and dogs, all sizes, makes and models! We especially have a couple of really fluffy cats, and it’s really hard to keep up with the cat hair. This would be of great benefit for our whole family!!!

I have three cats and one of them is long haired and over 17 years old. She is getting so that she can’t groom herself well enough. I need a furminator to help with that problem.
I have a golden and he has so much hair. It takes hours upon hours to get through his thick coat when I am done it seems to have grown back
My beloved Dibbles would love the cat Furminator tool, because although he’s a shorthaired boy, he sheds madly.

We have a Maine Coon cat named Nicholas and he has lonf=g hair and soft undercoat and he does shed. He is all black and the hair is very obvious on our beige carpeting.
I have four cats who shed like crazy! I could sure use this!

any help to get ahead of the brushing game
I have two long hair chihuahuas and a very large cat we rescued 8 years ago (he’s bigger than the dogs). They all shed constantly. I bush them all the time with a regular brush, but with this tool, I may actually make some progress, because the brush I use is not nearly as effective as the furminator.
yoshi, my shipoo could really use this.. he is so furry and tangles happen so easy
I have 2 dogs and a cat at home that shed. I would be able to use this tool on all three!
we have a dog that is in the house and she sheds a lot i try to vacuum almost daily but i think the furminator would help me keep our house dog hair free

I have 9 cats and this would be a dream to use. 2 of my cats are long-haired, so getting the undersoat done is a plus. I also like th ergonomic handle.

Would benefit because less floating hair would me less asthma
I could get the dogs hair really good and then be able to keep up with it
I have a sneaky suspecion that my youngest child is allergic to my cat or dog. We are going to find out for sure. If so, I am not sure sure what I am going to do. My pets are part of the family. However, my daughter’s well being is most important.

I would benefit because there would be less kitty fur on the couches and floor and my clothes because the furminator would get to it first!

With 3 cats and a dog we have a lot of pet hair collecting around the house and this would help us keep things more clean and our pets more beautiful!

I would have less hair everywhere!
I would benefit from a Furminator as my Heidi sheds her white fur so much that I can’t wear black without it being covered in her fur.
I have two dogs and a cat and this would be WONDERFUL to have!
My cat sheds like crazy so we could really use this.
